Can my child “play up” in their school age group?

MBL is structured as 11U, 10U, etc.  Players in their respective groups must not reach the next age before May 1, 2017. This date will be used to determine the players baseball age for divisions, along with consideration of their current school grade the Spring of 2018.  Each player will be placed in AAA, AA, or A teams based on preseason evaluations.  Their placement will be based on their skills, and where evaluators feel they would perform best.  As players will be placed within teams of players with similar skills levels, there should be no need to play up, however it is permissible for a player to “play up” from their designated age division due to being in that specific school grade of that other division, but they may not “play down” a division.  For example, a 10 year old baseball age 5th grader may play in the 11 year old division if they are in 5th grade as of Spring 2018, but an 11 year old baseball age player may NOT play in the 10 year old division.
