Minnetonka Baseball Association is a program of service to the youth of our community. It is geared to provide an outlet of healthful activity and training under good leadership in an atmosphere of wholesome community participation.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ’s)

1) “My child is open enrolled in a Minnetonka Public School. We do not live in the geographic boundaries for that school and my child wants to play with their class mates in the Minnetonka Baseball Association” - Open enrolled students that attend school within the Minnetonka School District boundaries are eligible to play within the Minnetonka Baseball Association. 2) “I’m not sure at what level my child should be playing this year” - The school grade your child is currently attending at the time of registration and the baseball age determined by Metro Baseball League. The breakdown is as follows:

Pre – Kindergarten – Rookie/T-Ball

Kindergarten  – Community 6

1st Grade – Community 7

2nd Grade – Community 8

3rd Grade  – Community 9

4th Grade – Community 10/11 and Travel 10

5th Grade - Community 10/11 and Travel 11 

6th Grade – Community 12/13 and Travel 12

7th Grade - Community 12/13 and Travel 13

8th Grade - Community 14/15 and Travel 14

9th Grade - Community 14/15 and Travel 15

10th Grade - Community 16-18, MBA Jr. Legion, Excelsior Jr. Legion

11th Grade - Community 16-18, Travel Tier I 16-18, MBA Sr. Legion, Excelsior Sr. Legion

*  Once your child reaches age 10 or 4th Grade, they are placed in one of two leagues based upon an annual evaluation of baseball skills. These leagues are Community and Travel.

3) “My child wants to play on the same team with his friends or classmates” – We are able to accommodate teammate reciprocal requests in most of our Community Leagues.  

4) “I would like my child to “play up” a level” – MBA wants to ensure that players have a great experience in our league - we believe that one of the best ways to do that is to have kids play at their grade level.  Contact our Vice President if you have questions. 

5) “My child is unable to attend evaluations” - The MBA board maintains that evaluations are optional, but are mandatory to play in the Travel Leagues.  Players unable to attend evaluations will be placed in the Community Leagues. 

6)   “I want to coach or be a team manager – will my child be on my team?” – Provided that you are qualified and selected by the MBA board to be a coach or assistant coach, your child will be placed on your team.

7)  “I’d like to coach but I’m not sure I have the baseball skills” – There are a series of pre-season coaching clinics in which basics of batting, throwing, and catching instruction are reviewed. For more details go to the MBA site.

8)  “When do the player clinics begin?” - Please check the main schedule on the website for all relevant dates

9) “When will the evaluations take place?” – Please check the main schedule on the website for all relevant dates

10) “When will teams be announced?” – Please check the main schedule on the website for all relevant dates

11)    “When does the season start and finish?” – Please check the main schedule on the website for all relevant dates

12) “Where are the games held?” – The primary fields for MBA are as follows:

Rookie/T-Ball through Community 9: Minnewashta Elementary, Freeman Park, Cathcart Park & Bennett Family Park

Community 10/11, Travel 10 and 11: Bennett Family Park, Freeman Park and Manitou Park

Community 12/13 , Travel 12 and 13: Bennett Family Park, Excelsior Commons, Freeman Park, and Manitou Park

Community 14/15, Travel 14 and 15:  Bennett Family Park, Freeman Park, Veterans Field

Community 16-18, MBA Jr. Legion: Bennett Family Park, Freeman Park, Veterans Field

Travel Tier I 16-18: Veterans Field

MBA Sr. Legion: Veterans Field 

Other fields may be used for practices and that information will come from your coach.

13)    Refund Policy – MBA’s refund policy is as follows:

Refund Policy for all players except for 12+YO Travel Teams & Legion Teams:
 

Registration refunds for players that decide not to play : 
100% up until Registration is closed for a season. (Less $50 Processing Fee)
50% refund after Registration closes.(Less $50 Processing Fee)
None, after team or league placement is announced. 
          *Note: Refunds will be completed in batches when registration closes for each league.

Registration refunds for players that are injured and cannot play : 
100% refund up until the completion of the first game.(Less $50 Processing Fee)
50% refund up until the completion of the 3rd game.(Less $50 Processing Fee)
25% refund up until the completion of the 5th game.(Less $50 Processing Fee)
No refund after the start of the 6th game.

 

Refund Policy specifically for players on 12+ YO Travel & Legion Teams:
 

Registration refunds for players that decide not to play : 
*All registration fees for these specific teams are nonrefundable, except in the case of injury. 

 

Registration refunds for players that are injured and cannot play : 
100% refund up until uniforms are ordered (Less $50 Processing Fee)

75% refund up until the start of the season.(Less $50 Processing Fee)
50% refund up until the completion of the 3rd game.(Less $50 Processing Fee)
25% refund up until the completion of the 5th game.(Less $50 Processing Fee)
No refund after the start of the 6th game

14)    Sibling Discount - There is a $10.00 discount per sibling after the first registration. For example, after the first child in a family is registered each subsequent sibling will receive a $10 discount.
