Minnetonka Baseball Association Volunteer Policy

Every family needs to sign up for 1 shift per player (1 shift per family during Fall Baseball). Players receiving scholarship assistance are required to do an additional shift.

The following people are exempt from volunteering for concession stand/event duty:

Head Coaches*

Assistant Coaches (Two, identified at the beginning of the season)*

Team Managers*

Board Members and Leaders

Team, League and Fundraiser Sponsors

Players that opt out during registration

*Head Coaches, two Assistant Coaches, and Team Managers are exempt from their volunteer shift requirement for that player on that team.  If they have other players on a different team, shifts for those players are still required.

Frequently Asked Questions:

1.  Multiple players in the league? Please sign up for 1 shift for each player

2.  Coaching or Team Parent for one team and have other players? Still need to sign up for a shift for your other players not on your team you are coaching or managing.

3.  Does it matter which concession stand or event that I sign up for? No. You can sign up for a shift at Freeman, Bennett, or Veteran’s or other events that are listed to volunteer.

4.  How long are shifts?  Concession stand shifts are generally 2 to 2.5 hours. Other volunteer shifts may be different but should not exceed 3 hours. There is no overlap from one shift to the next, so please be on time!  As with other volunteering events the time allocation is listed on the event sign-up.

5.  Can I opt-out of my shift requirement?  Yes, at the time you register your player, you can opt-out of your volunteer requirement for a fee of $150 per player.

6.  What happens if I don’t show up for my shift?  If someone does not show up for their scheduled shift, that person’s MBA account will be assessed a $25 fine.  That person will also need to still complete a shift before the end of the season.  We understand that things come up and schedules change, so if you are unable to make it to the shift you signed up for, please remove your name from the sign-up at least 48 hours in advance.  This charge will be on your account and must be paid prior to any future registrations.

7.   What happens if I don’t complete my shift?  If someone does not complete a required shift for a player, that person’s MBA account will be assessed a $200 fine.  This charge will be on your account and must be paid prior to any future registrations.

8.   Shifts filled up fast - will more be added? More shifts may be added for Opening Day, Bigsy Tournament or Post-Season tournaments taking place in June and July.  The league will be notified when that happens and schedules will be revised.

9.  Can my child work a shift?  Anyone sixteen and older can fulfill a shift requirement.  No children under 16 are allowed in any of the concession stands due to safety reasons.

10. What if my shift is rained out?  You will be notified by an MBA Official if you do not need to report for your scheduled shift due to weather or field conditions. Communications will be sent to the email account you used to sign-up for a shift.
