Minnetonka Baseball Association is a program of service to the youth of our community. It is geared to provide an outlet of healthful activity and training under good leadership in an atmosphere of wholesome community participation.

Community League 6

*Kindergarten Grade Base League

 

BB Age 6 and are Preschool or Kindergarten, or BB Age 5 or BB Age 7 and are Attending Kindergarten during the 2017-2018 school year. 

Continued development / introduction of baseball fundamentals; soft baseballs are used; coaches pitch to their own teams; players play multiple positions; neither score nor standings are kept. Formed based on the elementary school in which the player attends.

N/A Jersey, hat, socks & pants. League will schedule 1 practice per week. Practices will be held on Monday nights. Teams play a regular season against other MBA teams on Weekends N/A

Community League 7

*1st Grade Base League

BB Age 7 and are Attending Kindergarten or 1st Grade during the 2017-2018 school year, or BB Age 6 or BB Age 8 and are Attending 1st Grade during the 2017-2018 school year.

Soft baseballs used; players play multiple positions; “sling” pitching machines will be utilized for hitting; neither score nor standings are kept. Formed based on the elementary school in which the player attends.

N/A Jersey, hat, socks & pants. League will schedule 1 practice per week. Practices will be held on Tuesday nights. Teams play a regular season against other MBA teams on Weekends In-house, post-season tournament for all teams. (Scores & Wins/Losses will be kept)

2018

Community League 8

*2nd Grade Base League

BB Age 8 and are Attending 1st  or 2nd Grade during the 2017-2018 school year, or BB Age 7 or BB age 9 and are Attending 2nd Grade during the 2017-2018 school year.  

Soft baseballs are used; players play multiple positions; 10 players on the field; hitting occurs via "sling" pitching machines (higher settings than 7's); continuous batting order throughout the season; score is kept and wins and losses are recorded for league standings. Formed based upon reciprocated friend requests, Minor's 7 coach player evaluations and school attended.  It is our goal to form teams of roughly equal talent.

2018: $200

N/A Jersey, hat, socks & pants. League will schedule 1-2 practices per week.  Batting cage time may be added at Coach request.  Practices could be held on Wednesday or Thursday nights.  Teams play a regular season against other MBA teams on Weekends In-house, post-season tournament for all teams. (Scores & Wins/Losses will be kept)

Community League 9

*3rd Grade Base League

BB Age 9 and are Attending 2nd or 3rd Grade during the 2017-2018 school year, or BB Age 8 or BB Age 10 and are Attending 3rd Grade during the 2017-2018 school year.  

Hard baseballs are introduced; 1st year of “Kid-Pitch” baseball and all players are given an opportunity to pitch; players play multiple positions; 10 players on the field; continuous batting order throughout the regular season;  stealing is introduced. Draft

Community League 10/11

(10/11 year olds)

*4th & 5th Grade Base League

BB Age 10 or BB Age 11 and  are Attending 3rd ,4th or 5th Grade during the 2017-2018 school year, or BB Age 9 thru BB Age 12 and are Attending 4th or 5th Grade during the 2017-2018 school year.  

Competitive play accelerates but 10/11 remains developmental with roughly equal playing time and all players being given the opportunity to play multiple positions in the infield and outfield. Draft

Travel League 10

(10 year olds) 

*4th Grade Base League

BB Age 10 and are Attending 4th or 5th Grade during the 2017-2018 school year or BB Age 9 and are Attending 4th Grade during the 2017-2018 school year.  

Tryouts are required to be considered for the Travel League.   Competitive play accelerates with age but our Leagues remain developmental with roughly equal playing time and all players being given the opportunity to play multiple positions in the infield and outfield. Draft

​Due to MBL/MBT requirement of matching uniforms, players will need to purchase their pants from Hanus Sports. These pants complete the official uniform. We have negotiated a special league price.

League will schedule 1-2 practices per week.  Batting cage time may be added at Coach request.  Practices could be held on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday nights.  Teams play in a 14-16 game season in the metro area.  In addition, teams will play in three or four in-season tournaments.

League post-season tournament for all teams.

Will play in State Tournaments in July if they qualify during the in-season tournaments.

2018

Travel League 11

(11  year olds) 

*5th Grade Base League

BB Age 11 and are Attending 5th or 6th Grade during the 2017-2018 school year or BB Age 10 and are Attending 5th Grade during the 2017-2018 school year.  Tryouts are required to be considered for the Travel League.   Competitive play accelerates with age but our Leagues remain developmental with roughly equal playing time and all players being given the opportunity to play multiple positions in the infield and outfield. Community League 12/13

(12/13 year olds) 

*6th and 7th Grade Base League

All BB Age 12 & 13-year-old players will play along with any 6th & 7th graders choosing to play with their grade.  Teams play on modified (75-80 ft bases) fields.  Teams are formed by an equidraft. 

2018: $300

N/A Jersey, hat & belt. League will schedule 1-2 practices per week.  If the coach would like additional practice time, it would be granted on field availability. Teams play a 16-game regular season against in-house opponents on Weekends and weekdays

In-house, post-season tournament for all teams. (Scores & Wins/Losses will be kept)

*Possible tournament teams for eligible players (Will play in 1 Tournament, and possibly State, if they qualify)

2019

Travel
(12-15 year olds )

*6th,7th, 8th and 9th Grade Base League

All 12-15 year-old players along with any 6th, 7th, 8th, and 9th graders choosing to play with their grade. Teams play in the Metro Baseball League. Draft. Tryouts and Draft occur Fall of 2017. (Single "A" teams are drafted using combined 14/15 yr old players) 2018: $650 $35 Jersey (2), pants, hat & belt. League will schedule 1-2 practices per week.  If the coach would like additional practice time, it would be granted on field availability. Teams play in a 14-16 game season in the metro area.  In addition, teams will play in three or four in-season tournaments. Will play in State Tournaments in July if they qualify during the in-season tournaments.

2018

Community League 14/15
(14/15 year olds)

*8th and 9th Grade Base League

All  BB Age 14 and 15-year-old players  along with any 8th or 9th  graders choosing to play with their grade. Teams play on regulation (90 ft bases) fields.  Teams are formed by an equidraft. Some consideration will be given to playing with friends. 

2018: $350

N/A Jersey, hat & belt. League will schedule 1-2 practices per week.  If the coach would like additional practice time, it would be granted on field availability. Teams play a 16-game regular season against in-house and interleague opponents. 

Teams play an end-of-season in-house playoff.

2019

MBA Jr. Legion 2
(Bulldogs)

*9th, 10th and 11th Grade Base League

Freshman, Sophomores and Juniors with birthdates 1/1/2001 and later Teams play in the Blue Division of Legion. Start mid-late May to avoid (or at least minimize) conflicts with High School baseball. Draft. Tryouts and Draft occur Fall of 2017. 2019: $800 N/A  Jersey (2), pants, hat & belt. League will schedule 1-2 practices per week.  If the coach would like additional practice time, it would be granted on field availability. Teams play in a 35-40 game season.  In addition, teams will play in four in-season tournaments (3 local, 1 travel). Post Season play opportunities.- Legion Tier IA or Legion Post Season

2019

MBA Sr. Legion 2

Players with birthdates 1/1/99 and later regardless of grade or college Teams play in the Todd Oaks League of Legion.  Start mid-late May to avoid (or at least minimize) conficts with High School baseball. Draft. Tryouts and Draft occur Fall of 2017. 2019: $900 N/A Jersey (2), pants, hat & belt. League will schedule 1-2 practices per week.  If the coach would like additional practice time, it would be granted on field availability . Teams play in a 35-40 game season.  In addition, teams will play in four in-season tournaments (3 local, 1 travel - potential showcase). Legion Post Season

2019

Travel Tier I: 16-18 year olds

Players with birthdates 1/1/99 and  are in 10th Grade thru college  Teams play in the Legion League.  Start mid-to-late May to avoid (or at least minimize) conflicts with High School baseball. ~Two teams of players selected from Spring 2018 tryout.

2019: $525

N/A Returnable jerseys, pants, hat & belt. League will schedule 1-2 practices per week.  If the coach would like additional practice time, it would be granted on field availability. Teams play 25-35 games based on tournament success.  In addition, teams will play in 1-2 local tournaments.  Post Season play opportunities.

2018

Community League  16-18
(16-18 year olds)

*10th, 11th and 12th Grade Base League

16-18 year olds - Seniors, Juniors and Sophomores during 2017-2018 school year. Teams play in the Southwest Metro Senior Youth League.     Strong consideration will be given to playing with friends.

2018: $200

N/A Jersey, hat & belt. League will schedule 1-2 practices per week.  If the coach would like additional practice time, it would be granted on field availability. Teams play a 14-16 game regular season against in-house and interleague opponents.   There will be an end-of-season playoff tournament with surrounding communities.

2018

Fall Ball 

Ages 8-18 Look for more information on this program in mid-June. The leagues give players the chance to extend their season. Practices begin mid-August and the last games are played in early October. 

8/9 YO Teams created using draft system to create as equal team as possible.

10 YO+ teams are formed by coaches

Special Notation: If your player is affected by DOB and School Grade difference and you desire to have your registration reviewed by the MBA Registration Committee for a different league placement, please register your player first for the league that matches their current League age of registration.  NO PLAY-UPS will be approved as these exceptions requests are only for those players that may have started school earlier or later than normal causing a difference in our system DOB ranges per school grade.  You then must complete the Registration Exception Request Form located under the Registration tab.  Your request will be reviewed by the MBA Registration Committee in the timeframe listed on the exception form. If you have any other questions regarding registration, please contact Brian Schimke at
